Membership
When is a good time to get started?
Like most Cub Scout Packs, we go year-round. You can become a scout at anytime. If you have an interest in learning more about our pack, if you have questions, or if you would like to join our pack please contact our membership coordinator today!
When do we meet?
Pack Meetings
are held once per month and all of our scouts (K-5th grade) get together in the same place. The meeting is normally led by the Cubmaster. Keep an eye on the calendar for the date. You are welcome to stop by if you are considering joining the pack. We gear the meeting towards the kids and the goal is to have fun and recognize them for their recent accomplishments (with awards, pins, loops, badges, and whatever else we dream up).
Den Meetings
(smaller grade level groups) are normally held 1-2 times a month and when there are specific outings.
What is the Cost of Joining?
First - don't let the cost scare you off. It's not that expensive and our Pack is able to assist if you need help. The person to see about assistance is the Committee Chair. This will be kept between you and them but you can tend to that later.
Second - Our annual pack dues are $200 and the appropriate handbook is under $15.00. A new uniform runs around $30.00 (depends) but the shirt is good for several years, so uniform costs do go down as you move through the ranks.
How do I join the Pack?
Are you an existing member of Pack 585?
If so, and if you paid your dues for last school year, you'll still be on our charter so you will just need to renew your membership by paying your 2024-2025 dues.
Are you a new member of Pack 585?
If so, you'll want to first reach out to our Membership Coordinator to obtain information about the pack and fill out an application. After you do this you can pay your 2024-2025 dues.
Please reach out to the Committee Chair if you are unable to pay the fees up front. We can work with you. Scouting is actually quite reasonable considering all that your son or daughter will be doing throughout the year. Don't let the cost get in the way of your decision.
